Project Forty Adventure Trips are outdoor experiences for groups or families to promote engaging relationship growth by leaving technology behind and diving into creation, literally. These four-day adventures ranging anywhere from a car-camping climbing trip to a full-on backpacking and rappelling adventure are great tools to build the relationships of the participants. This is another useful tool for parents and youth leaders to creatively challenge students to evaluate daily decisions and provide real support as they venture out into their “unknown.”
Ice climbing is the last great wilderness adventure without climbing into the thin air. Picture yourself swinging axes into a frozen waterfall and kicking your way to the top. With professional guides to coach you through every aspect of climbing and camping in the woods, this trip will push you physically, but with every push comes huge rewards–you will talk about this adventure for years to come!
Trip Outline
Details
This is the trip, we believe the ultimate experience of disconnecting from society in a beautiful frozen tundra. Also a trip of firsts for most people. We start out with a 7-mile snowshoe to our basecamp with all our gear for 4 days. From there we spend the next two days ice climbing close to 200 foot cliffs right over Lake Superior.
Gear
Ice climbing is already a gear-intensive sport, add in winter camping in the backcountry it adds up quickly. We are able to bridge the gap with a full inventory of rental gear to make this experience accessible to anyone. From rain shells to crampons we have you covered!
Guides
Backcountry trips require a minimum of two guides regardless of group size. One of which holds an AMGA certification, there to set anchors and belays to ensure everyones safety on two of Munising's biggest ice climbs over right on lake superior.
Camping
Equipped with 4 season tents and zero-degree sleeping bags to an experience almost as rewarding as the climbing, camping in the snow. We will also take care of all food prep for the expedition.
Transportation
We will be driving everyone up to Munising after meeting in Flint.
